Good product let down by lack of customer service. Not user friendly for small businesses
- Antivirus and anti-malware protection
- Cloud management of devices
- Does not noticeably impact computer resources
- Email support only, too slow to respond and not particularly helpful. Too much back and forth to resolve issues
- Requires tech proficiency and time to deploy and maintain
- The renewal process results in losing days from the old license unless perfectly timed to add a new license added on the date the old license expires. results in changing the annual renewal date every year
- No way to remove partner and retain access to account
Bitdefender the Product is Good, but Good Luck Getting Support
- Syncs with AD
- On top of latest threats
- Blocks bad links
- Tech Support
- Video Tutorials
- SLA - Response time
- Instruction manuals
Bitdefender GravityZone is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise murky antivirus market.
- Network attack defense
- Ransomware prevention
- Web-based, no hardware needed
- Picks up threats early that other providers do not
- Support is sometimes hard to get a hold of.
- The installer package is very small but needs to download files, can take a while on slower networks.
- Support documentation is not written for the average end-user.
Bitdefender GravityZone provides world class malware and threat protection in a powerful and easy to use package
- Once installed, Bitdefender [GravityZone] runs silently in the background with little to no need for user interaction.
- The cloud-based console provides for easy computer management and deployment.
- Bitdefender [GravityZone] is extremely flexible, with a policy-based system wherein different profiles can be created (i.e. a policy to deactivate the firewall, a policy to allow for admin control on a machine, etc.) and pushed out to individual computers.
- Computers can be grouped into different categories, with different policies automatically deployed to each category.
- Bitdefender [GravityZone] is relatively resource-light and runs well even on lower-end computers.
- An individual computer or server can be set up as an endpoint relay - wherein workstations can communicate directly with this relay vs. the Bitdefender [GravityZone] cloud. In theory, this would be ideal for offices with a slow internet connection, in practice, however, the relay connection is flaky and buggy.
- The initial install process, while easy, can take a while when compared to other antivirus solutions. In general, it takes anywhere from 5 - 10 min to install.
- Once installed, no settings can be changed directly on a computer, all changes need to be made via the [Bitdefender] GravityZone web page.
- The installer package itself is rather large when compared to competitors. The packages [are] around 600 - 700 MB.
- Support can be slow to respond at times.
- Small footprint with minimum resources required
- Very adept at stopping 0-Day Threats
- Scans are quick and efficient
- Works on Windows and Macs
- Centrally controlled, very easy to update policies
- Better reporting, more options for reports
- New cloud dashboard is harder to navigate than previous
- Cloud dashboard isn't very user friendly for new techs
Bitdefender GravityZone Experiences
- Users are protected without them having to manage the product themselves
- Being able to manage computers in our organization thru the cloud is especially helpful when we have users all across the country and South America
- Bitdefender uses less computer resources than many other virus protection products we've used in the past
- I do not like having to correspond by email. When I have an issue I do not have time to wait 6-8 hours for a reply. I want to do a chat or a phone call.
- I find their cloud dashboard a bit challenging to navigate. I can never find the option I need without searching thru every category.
- I do not like that it takes 48 hours for the cloud to update when there is an issue with a client computer when I am working on it remotely.
Easy, strong protection
- Cloud-based console
- EDR and EPP packed in one with simple use
- Detailed reports with ability to dig down
- Multi-tenant console if required
- Transparent pricing based on modules
- Dashboards leave much to be desired (shows you problem but can’t drill down from dashboard)
- UI can be somewhat confusing especially under multi-tenant mode
Bitdefender GravityZone--renewed again
This helps us use a web-based platform for our devices that are spread throughout a large area and across multiple locations.
- Antivirus/malware
- Encryption management
- Web filtering
- Patch management
- Customer service--they direct you to YouTube links and offer answers that are easy but not a good solution. (e.g., Delete old records instead of figuring out why multiple instances are showing up in the dashboard)
- Android/iOS devices can't be managed unless on a local network with on-premises solution
- More robust web filtering platform
- Easy to deploy and manage.
- Several layers of protection.
- Valuable add on packages such as encryption, patch management and EDR.
- Mobile Device Management is missing for cloud users.
- Reports should be more flexible/self-creat[ing].
- Executive summary should be able to be printed.
- Tech support response is too slow.
Bitdefender GravityZone in a small insurance agency
- Low CPU and memory use.
- Cloud-based hosting doesn't require hardware onsite.
- Has kept us "clean" for the past several years.
- Notifications of events can come in slowly.
- Reporting detail is lacking in some areas.
- Bitdefender occasionally releases new features but doesn't explain what they do well.
BitDefender Gravity AV Review of Basic Use and Features
- Easy to use the cloud-based console.
- Easy to configure and deploy.
- Digital wallet for password protection is lacking.
- VIP tech support costs money.
Bitdefender -- the AV Solution for everyone.
- A cost-effective solution, pay for what you need.
- Out of the box configuration. More features generally result in more settings to configure. Bitdefender has created standard out of the box policies that meet the needs of our customers.
- Easy to install. Installation instructions can be sent directly to the portal and done by the end-user.
- It needs a smaller installation package. The install is very large.
- Better logging at the endpoint level.
Good for PC, not for Mac
- Multi-tenant management
- Global policy change
- Nested policy management
- Single pane of glass
- Poor Apple (Mac) support
- High resource usage
- Challenging reporting model
Good review for a good product!
- Deployment of client
- Rules for exclusions
- Monitoring or all assets
- Better overall stats and pie chart for a quick dashboard of all clients.
- Risk assessment or improvement scanner
Less suitable is for personal usage.
Excellent product but difficult to set up for non IT
- The Gravity Zone console is quite easy to use, particularly if the person assigned to implement and deploy have a good understanding of how to make it work to get at the information needed.
- The Dashboard is customizable to get at the information needed in one location.
- Pushing tasks across the network is quite easy.
- Having said the what is available in gravity zone, it is easy to see what devices have activity that frequently result in quarantines. This allows us to address "misuse" of our devices. Which brings me to my final point...
- The policies can be set up to lock devices down with very strict rules (such as device locking) or with relaxed policies.
- Who do I ask? This is my chief complaint is once the initial licenses were purchased through Bit Defender, there was no one to contact that could help navigate some of the initial questions I had with regard to specific policies to implement for our file server. The parent web site is, well, hard to navigate when one is trying to "learn" the system.
- The second issue is in increasing the licenses. It took several days for the parent company (by contact and phone) to inform me that they could not increase the licenses and I would have to go through a private vendor. There was no intent to connect me to a vendor or provide a vendor list until I asked specifically. YET I continue to get email from the parent company reminding me to pay an annual fee for the licenses purchase through the private vendor. The parent company can see the number of licenses yet did not sell them to me.
- Gravity Zone Dashboard, while excellent for those who have experience, is not particularly intuitive for those who have never used it. There does not seem to be a lot of documentation for those responsible for implementation.
Does what it says on the tin!
- Detection rates are industry leading, and with very few if any false positives.
- The endpoint software is also very lightweight. We've had problems with previous alternate AV software hogging resources. Not so with Bitdefender GravityZone.
- Something I find irritating when using the web console to administer or view reports etc, is that you can't use the browser 'back' button!
- I've also found at times the remote deployment to be a little unreliable. I've had to resort to using 3rd-party tools to deploy to some machines on our domain.
Bitdefender for a small business with cloud overview
- Daily reports
- Quick scan and computer overview
- Updates are applied whether computer is connected to local network or remote
- Unmanaged computers are automatically added to computer list whether Bitdefender is deployed to it or not
Bitdefender GravityZone pulled me in and now I'm happily stuck with it.
- Bitdefender uses far fewer resources on the client computers than several other antivirus programs I have used.
- The web portal is pretty easy to use and gives a good amount of information in regards to the health of the computers.
- There are periodically times which Windows thinks no antivirus or firewall is active on a computer, even when Bitdefender is there.
I'm not sure if highly regulated companies (medical practices, government, etc.) would be able to use the standard setup of Bitdefender GravityZone.
One of the best anti-virus software
- Auto updates
- Keep it in the cloud
- Setup scans whenever you want
- The interface can use more improvements
- Sometimes installation doesn't go smooth
Good product, thoughtfully made, and works well.
- Cloud dashboard
- Ease of deployment to new clients
- Custom deployment options/policies
- New features - ransomware vaccine, etc.
- Difference between server/client license
- Cost for NGOs
- Ability to manage users/admins, particularly delete admins
Deleting a computer from a group does not automatically delete it from all areas. It requires an extra step to delete permanently.
Bitdefender GravityZone is the perfect security solution for the average business owner
- Bitdefender GravityZone is well suited for small or medium-sized businesses that need strong security because it's makers put a lot of extra thinking into the software.
- The web-based administrative management panel is very robust and modern.
- The software knows how to detect new malware and viruses based on complex algorithms.
- Reporting can get complicated, especially if you are managing a lot of users.
- Customer service is not the fastest or most thorough in their responses.
- Their documentation does not make it easy to browse through and find instructions.
Bitdefender GravityZone: a blackhole for malware.
- Bitdefender does exactly what it should do: it detects, blocks, or removes malware effectively. Between scheduled scans, heuristics monitoring, and device scans, most potential infections are caught quickly and cleanly resolved with little to no intervention needed from our team.
- GravityZone offers extremely frequent definition updates and reporting on which endpoints aren't fully up to date and may need manual intervention.
- With policies, you can quickly and easily roll out different schedules, scan profiles, and more, to individual or groups of devices. This can be scaled up easily to roll out for individual companies or across a larger base of multiple supported customers.
- Having a single product that can secure both PCs and Macs and be managed in the same cloud-based interface is fantastic.
- Obtaining the specific report you wish to see can be a bit difficult at times.
- Having the installation packages of the software listed under the "Network" header is a bit odd and has caused confusion for infrequent users.
- The attempts to automatically uninstall competing AV products sometimes go awry and can cause problems for both the previously installed software and potential installations of Bitdefender. We recommend uninstalling competing products through their own recommended steps before installing Bitdefender for best results.
Bitdefender - After 2 years
- Randomware detection and prevention
- Centralized and simply policy based management with AD integration
- Centralized scanning offloads much of the processing needed and frees the client to be used for its intended purpose.
- You cannot run multiple licenses for any given client type. An example would be if I purchase a group of clients and need to add more licensing my only option is to prorate into the existing, I cannot run a separate license file with a separate expirations date. This can pose an issue if trying to divide licensing for budgetary purposes or simple expansion.
- While the deployment process was smooth overall for us UAC does need to be tweaked for it to be successful. This really shouldn't be necessary.
- During the sales process it was stressed that Bitdefender would automatically remove our existing AV product making deployment extremely simple, this however turned out to not be the case and our existing AV had to be removed by other means.
